The Duns Gathering proved to be an outstanding success. On the Friday evening before the formal gathering day many of the participants met up just along the road from Duns in the Wheatsheaf Hotel, Swinton for a meal and a few refreshments.  The following day we were lucky to have a beautiful sunny day, which added to the enjoyment to come. We gathering in the Black Bull Hotel Duns in the morning with tea & coffee being serviced, before the formal day commenced.
President David Nisbet chaired the formal business updates of the Society, Chief Mark Nesbitt of that Ilk gave a short talk to the audience who  came from around the UK, North America & Germany. There followed a most interesting presentation about Gunsgreen House , Eyemouth,  from  Professor Alistair Rowan FRSE, Chairman of the Gunsgreen House Trust. Alistair gave a well-informed history of the property and  the Nisbet family who built it, lived there, their business & activities, also the trust`s restoration and future plans. This talk served as a good introduction to the gatherings visit to Gunsgreen House during the afternoon. The talks were concluded with a presentation from Tom Nesbitt on the N/N DNA project. The afternoon was taken up with a visit to the grounds of Nisbet House with the kind permission of the owner. We then proceeded to Eyemouth for a  tour of Gunsgreen House and its Nisbet`s history. The day came to a close with a dinner at the Black Bull, Nearly everyone decided to stay for dinner and how the Black Bull managed to squeeze almost sixty of us into the small upstairs room for dinner was short of a marvel. The dinner was a very jolly, noisy affair with toasts being given and accepted in particular, proposed by Mark, a toast to David & Sue for having organized such a successful and enjoyable Gathering .
