Clan Society

The Nesbitt/Nisbet Society is made up of those descended from, married to, or simply interested in this ancient Scottish family and its numerous overseas branches. Membership is open to all who support the aims of the Society.

It aims to promote kinship between members, particularly through its gatherings, and to assist and encourage historical and genealogical research, particularly through its quarterly newsletter and its publications.

The Society also supports relevant causes, such as the restoration of the tomb of Frances Nisbet, wife of Admiral Nelson, and the restoration of Gunsgreen House, Eynmouth, a fine Adam mansion built for John Nisbet.

The tomb of Lady Nelson. The Nesbitt/Nisbet Society contributed to its restoration.

The United Kingdom branch numbers some 130 families; the global membership of all three branches is about 400 families. The United Kingdom branch (which also has members in Eire, Germany and other European countries) works closely with the North American and Australian branches. We hope you will join us.
